700 TB of Storage On a Single Disc!

Researchers using "a new nanocomposite material, which combines graphene oxide flakes with upconverted nanoparticles (UCNPs) to achieve an unprecedented data density" have been able to produce a theoretical 12 cm optical disc that can store the data equivalent of 28,000 25GB Blu Ray discs.  Unreal!  Continue learning by reading the article from techradar.com.

Don't Lose Your Head - Oh, Wait, It's Okay. I'm Fine

Some species of animals can lose body parts or detach them on command (autotomy) and then grow a new one.  But a head?  Really?  Yes.  Scientists have now discovered that the sea slug can detach its body from its head and within about three weeks, grow a new body. The head is independent and can crawl around eating algae.  The new body also grows a new heart and other vital organs.  Check out the in-depth article from newatlas.com.

Snakes Now Using Lasso Locomotion to Climb

As if snakes weren't already eerie enough and sneaky to boot, along with four other means of locomotion, scientists have now discovered another form of movement known as lasso locomotion.  The brown snake in Guam was discovered using this when scientists put Micronesian starling nests on poles to prevent snakes from attacking them.  To their surprise, the snakes WERE able to climb the poles.  Read the full article here to learn more about these unique and slithery creatures.

Man-Made Stuff Now Outweighs All Living Things on Earth

It's finally happened. Humans have created enough "stuff" that it now outweighs all things in the natural world.  Man uses nature to create new things, and he's made enough to tip the scales of balance.  Livescience.com delves into this subject in an interesting article discussing this topic.  What do you think?  Is man to the point where he is once again going to be judged by God with the words found at Genesis 11:6? "Jehovah then said: “Look! They are one people with one language, and this is what they have started to do. Now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be impossible for them."

It's Cute! It's Deadly!

The Slow Loris is cute and cuddlely.  But beware!  Its bite can rot flesh!  Used primarily to fight other Loris males, the flesh-rotting bite of the Slow Loris is nothing to laugh at.  By licking glands under their armpits that ooze noxious oil, they mix this with their saliva which creates a deadly venom that fills the grooves in their canines so that when they bite the solution can eat to the bone.  Intrigued? Check out more about this adorably deadly mammal.

The Venomous, Pus-Squirting Caterpillar

It looks like a toupee', squirts venomous pus from knife-like spines, but when all is said and done, it turns into a beautiful southern flannel moth.

It's common in the United States and other countries, but the stings from this caterpillar are excruciating.  One woman said it felt like "a scorching hot knife passing through the outside of my calf." Avoiding these caterpillars is your best option to avoid problems.  Since their sting is similar to a bee sting, some people who are allergic to bees could be affected adversely if stung.

M=e/c²

We all know Einstein's famous equation, E = mc².  And we know that humans have unleashed energy, power, explosions, whatever you like, by the application of this formula.  Look at the amount of energy that is released when bombs explode.

Now scientists have been able to reverse that formula in the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), and have seen evidence of mass creating energy in the form of W boson particles due to the interaction of two photons.  Of course, the amount of energy needed to create any kind of mass is mind-boggling and only possible due to the Creator's manipulation of his creation.  Still, that humans were able, on an infintesimal scale, to produce energy is applaudable.  Check out the full article from scitechdaily.com here.

Nano Diamond Batteries

Imagine a battery for your phone, car or anything else that could last 10 years or longer, even 28,000 years!  Yes, 28,000 years!

A California company, NDB, has been working on perfecting a battery that uses nuclear waste in such small amounts that the radiation emitted is less than what the human body generates.  Not only would this be a long lasting battery, it would also help eliminate nuclear waste.  Check out the full article here.  Wow!

Geometric Shaping Constellations

No, we're not talking about the cosmos. We're talking about the Internet.  New technology is emerging almost daily, and the speed of the Internet is no exception. Faster Internet means faster downloads, quicker access to vital or recreational information and more traffic without hinderance.

Imagine being able to download the entire Netflix vault in under ONE second!  It's possible.  Researchers have developed a way to increase speeds 17,800 times faster than is currently available by using existing fiber cable and a process called Geometric Shaping.  Learn about the details in this article from newatlas.com.  Unreal!
